03/10/2021 Update

Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff notified school districts that he has rescinded the September 3, 2020 order requiring school districts to notify the state of positive COVID-19 cases for K-12 students, effective Thursday, March 10, 2022.

1/27/2022 Update

District to Discontinue Contract COVID-19 Contact Tracing & Notifications
The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) announced on January 26 that “due to the quick spread of the Omicron variant and its rapid clinical course have made universal contact tracing, case investigation, and exposure notification impractical when combined with newly reduced timelines for quarantine and isolation.”

Until notified otherwise by ODH or Franklin County Public Health (FCPH), Groveport Madison Schools will discontinue contract tracing and COVID-19 notifications to families and District staff. However, the District will maintain its COVID-19 dashboard, which is updated daily, as a means of keeping our stakeholders informed of the number of active COVID-19 cases in the school district.

PREVENTATIVE STEPS BEING TAKEN

The District will continue to monitor the latest information. In the event the virus becomes local, a team is already in place that will execute the recommendations of local, state, and federal health officials.
 

To help reduce the spread of germs, we have:

  • Implemented additional cleaning and santization protocols in schools and offices
  • Regularly sanitizating school buses
  • Distributed anti-bacterial wipes to all schools and offices
  • Distributed anti-bacterial gel dispensers to all schools and offices
  • Placed posters and flyers to reinforce good hand-washing and other healthy practices
  • Met with all school nurses to discuss monitoring and reporting protocols

STATE CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) TESTING

Healthcare organizations in Ohio follow the state's guidelines that allow them to order a test for COVID-19 for anyone who wants one. However, some testing sites may have restrictions, and testing standards may differ among providers. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, such as:

  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell,

or have been exposed to a person who has COVID-19, you should get tested. 

 

WHERE CAN YOU BE TESTED?

Healthcare providers, community health centers, and retail pharmacy locations will screen individuals before ordering or performing testing. Calling ahead and asking about screening procedures and standards, including insurance requirements, physician's order requirements, the minimum age for testing, is important. If you or someone you know are experiencing emergency warning signs* for COVID-19, seek emergency medical care immediately. Signs include:

  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
  • Severe difficulty/trouble breathing
  • New confusion
  • Bluish lips or face
  • Inability to wake or stay awake
  • * This is not a list of all possible severe symptoms
